Staff Writer

TAHLEQUAH — Members of the Tahlequah Public Schools Board of Education assembled for a 15-minute special meeting at the Board of Education conference room on Tuesday.

The board approved a supplemental services contract with Educational Development and Instruction Team. EDIT will assemble data points and verify grades for the district’s A-through-F report card with the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The state uses the information to rate the performance of school districts.

Approval was also given for the Tahlequah Middle School choir to travel to Dallas in May, for staff to attend the Tankersly Food Show in Fort Smith, Ark., and for TMS and Tahlequah High School pom to visit Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 30 - Feb. 4 for the National Dance Competition.

The board also voted to approve a contract for the purchase of land adjacent to the baseball field and west of the middle school. A charitable contribution is included in the purchase.

Cost and a full description of the plot will be announced before the board votes to complete the transaction.

All votes were unanimous.

The next meeting of the TPS board is Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Tahlequah Board of Education building, 225 N. Water St.
