TAHLEQUAH — Fans of music and summer fun will have a chance to enjoy both during a new event created by  the Tenkiller Area Community Organization.

The Cookson Bluegrass Festival is July 20 at 32247 S. 540 Road – the TACO Building and Grounds adjacent to Tenkiller Airpark.

“We wanted to give the community another alternative for fun and a good family atmosphere,” said Cindy Ballew, TACO president. “That is also the weekend from which we moved the Cookson Jubilee [to June 21-22], and we wanted to schedule a new event for people who might be in Cookson that weekend.”

Ballew said TACO, which organizes other events such as the Cookson Jubilee and annual Easter egg hunts and Thanksgiving community dinners, continuously examines ideas to provide enjoyable events for area citizens.

“We always want to do things to better our community,” she said. “The Cookson Bluegrass Festival is a place for families to gather and visit, and it is a safe environment. Alcohol will not be permitted.”

TACO will discuss concessions and other issues concerning the festival during a meeting at 6 p.m. in the its building at 6 p.m.
