Man arrested after loitering reported

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Wednesday after callers reported a suspicious person near a residence.

Joey Ray Stilwell, 28, of Fort Gibson, was found in the area when deputies arrived. He allegedly had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, and smelled of alcohol. Deputies said he admitted to consuming four 16-ounce beers in the half hour before officers arrived. He was arrested and booked for public drunkenness.

In other matters, Ashley Henson spoke to deputies this week after a suspect forced his way into a trailer and tore up the floor while trying to steal copper wiring.

Ashley London spoke to deputies this week about a tag being taken off of her vehicle.

Deputies filed a report last week after a 12-year-old boy reported being kicked by a family member as the man and his girlfriend were involved in an altercation.

Ashley White spoke to deputies Wednesday that a thief rifled through her purse while she slept and took two checks.

A woman spoke to deputies Wednesday and said a man sexually assaulted her, and also spoke inappropriately about a 16-year-old girl.
