If you like watching TV while enjoying lunch or dinner, or your NSU class schedule doesn’t allow you much of a break between classes, Town Branch Bar and Grill is the place you need to visit.
The restaurant has at least five large-screen TVs stationed across the room and also features an outdoor dining area directly over Town Branch on the north side of the city. I have, on occasion, taken advantage of nice weather to sit outside and enjoy my burger and fries as the water flowed over the rocks in the creek bed below. It adds a little something to your dining experience.
Inside, you can ask the waitress to turn one of the TVs to a station of your liking, if it’s not already there. Last Thursday, when I made my visit, all of the sets were tuned to ESPN, which was fine because I enjoy that station when I’m not doing my regular job covering news at the City Hall-Courthouse complex.
The menu has a little something for everyone, ranging from sandwiches to burgers, steak and fish. Burgers and steaks are cooked to your specification.
On my latest visit, I was told the special that day was a burger and fries for $4.99, or for just $2 more, I could have a steak and potato. Decisions, decisions! That day the burger and tater tots won out. I’ve tried the steak and potato on a previous occasion, though, and it was to my liking as well.
The Town Branch Bar and Grill is within walking distance of the NSU campus and draws a lot of customers from there. It’s at 505 N. Muskogee.
With Town Branch’s fast, friendly service, you can go in, sit down and eat, and be on the way to your next class or other destination within the hour. And the menu is reasonably priced.
Gary Brown is general manager and John Gyllin is owner. They also offer catering and private parties, so check with them before your next big event.
