Fifty-nine sex offenders are registered with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office at this time, a report prepared by office staff states.
The report, which is generated for Sheriff Norman Fisher, Investigator Becky Thompson and Sheriff’s Deputy James Brown, states 14 of those offenders registered in January.
Brown’s responsibilities include verifying sex offender addresses. The violent offender registration has been updated, and four offenders are registering in this county.
Four sex offenders are delinquent in their registration, and Thompson has submitted that information to the DA’s office for filing charges.
Jose Sanchez, who has been delinquent since July 2007, is reported to be living in Texas. Frankie Rodriguez is believed to have moved. Annleaia Johnson has left the state and is in non-compliance with Cherokee County.
William Mathews has been informed that he needs to register as a sex offender when released from the hospital.
Federal authorities have been notified by the Oklahoma City sex offender office. Fisher said he appreciates the staff’s dedication to keeping tabs on sexual and violent offenders, as required by statute.
“We have a complete and accurate record on those types of offenders,” he said.
