Press decides not to increase rates for now

TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS

A rate increase announced recently by the Tahlequah Daily Press has been rescinded, according to Publisher Charlotte Klutts.

The small rate hike, which was for subscriptions only, was slated to offset some of the gasoline costs being incurred by newspaper carriers.

But Klutts said she and Circulation Manager Tom Dunavin re-evaluated the situation, and have decided not to implement the increase at this time.

“As we said earlier, we didn’t really want to do that in the first place, because we realize many people are struggling in these trying financial times,” Klutts said.

She added that she and Dunavin are looking at other ways to help the carriers with their higher fuel costs.

“We decided that at this time, we simply couldn’t pass on more costs to our subscribers. We value each and every one of them, and we want to keep them,” said Klutts.
