Two injured in area crash

— OKAY –– Two people were hospitalized Wednesday in stable condition after their vehicle ran off the road near Okay and hit a tree.
Cara M. Perkins, 43, of Muskogee and Michael C. Valentino, 46, of Kansas City, Mo. were taken to St. John’s Hospital. Perkins had head, trunk internal and trunk external injuries. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Valentino had head, leg and trunk external injuries.
Perkins was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus south on a county road three miles north of Okay when it failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road and hit a tree.
OHP reports state both were wearing seat belts and air bags deployed.
The crash was reported at 5:30 a.m. and was investigated by OHP Trooper Charles John.
