Published August 28, 2008 10:46 am - Property theft cases lead to charges for three from area By BOB GIBBINS TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — Formal charges have been filed against three people in two separate cases.
Eric Jordan Murphy and Wade Lewis Ritchie, both 18, were charged with two counts of second-degree burglary. Prosecutors allege Murphy and Ritchie broke into vehicles belonging to Robert Phipps and Ramona Holt on Aug. 14. Court records show Murphy’s bond has been set at $20,000; he has been ordered to return to court Sept. 2. Ritchie has been told to return Sept. 8; his bond is $10,000. The charges were filed after a report by Sheriff’s Deputy Jim Flores was submitted to the DA’s office. Second-degree burglary is punishable by imprisonment for two to seven years. Emily Jessica Anderson, 20, is charged with knowingly concealing stolen property and uttering a forged instrument. She allegedly concealed checks on Aug. 8 that were stolen from T. and W. Lafevers, court documents state. The uttering a forged instrument count alleges Anderson passed the Lafevers checks with a forged signature on them. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered to reappear Sept. 8. An attorney will be appointed to represent her. Uttering a forged instrument is punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years and concealing stolen property is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for a year or the state penitentiary for up to five years and/or a fine of up to $500. Sheriff’s Investigator Becky Thompson investigated the case. Assistant District Attorney Josh King is prosecuting both cases.
