Makeup date set for NSU-NWMSU contests

Provided more nasty winter weather stays out of the way, Northeastern State and Northwest Missouri State have agreed to a makeup date for basketball games that were postponed earlier this week.

The two Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association schools will now play Monday (Jan. 13) in Maryville, Mo., which is still currently thawing out after a blast of arctic air dipped temperatures below zero degrees while creating subzero wind chills. That same cold weather also dumped ample amounts of snow, causing travel concerns, which prompted the postponement of NSU’s games in Missouri.

The rescheduling of the game creates a logjam in both NSU’s and Northwest Missouri State’s basketball schedules. Both schools will now play five games in 10 days starting on Thursday, when NSU will host Southwest Baptist while Northwest Missouri State will be at Nebraska Kearney.

Luckily for NSU, four of the next five contests for both basketball teams will be at home. The trip to Maryville will be sandwiched in among a five home dates for the RiverHawks.

After NSU hosts Southwest Baptist, it will take on Missouri Southern on Saturday.
