Series record: Washburn leads 2-1.

Last meeting: In 2012, Washburn held off NSU and won 24-20. The Ichabods scored 24 of the game’s first 34 points, and NSU got within four in the fourth quarter on a Joel Rockmore TD run, and a 27-yard field goal by Drew Patton.

Last week: NSU at home to Missouri Southern, 17-14. Washburn blew out Fort Hays State, 54-17.

Players to watch

— Northeastern State: Langston Jones (LB).

• The senior linebacker had 21 tackles against Missouri Southern and could drew several matchups with Washburn tight end Tore Hurst.

— Washburn: Mitch Buhler (QB).

• Washburn’s signal caller is third in the MIAA in passing efficiency. He’s already thrown for 545 yards and eight touchdowns while throwing only one interception.

Looking ahead: Northeastern State will play at Emporia State on Sept. 28, while Washburn will host Central Oklahoma on the same day.
