Nelson reaches 5A state tourney

Tahlequah’s No. 1 singles player Conner Nelson finished third at the Class 5A regional touranment at Cascia Hall and qualified for the state tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Nelson is 15-11 heading into the state tournament.

The Tigers finished fifth overall at the regional tournament. Nathan Wright (No. 2 singles) and Ben Ballard and Colton Wright (No. 2 doubles) finished seventh, while John Molina and Hunter (No. 1 doubles) finished fifth.

Price improves placement on leaderboard at NCAA tournament

CONOVER, N.C. - Freshman Baylee Price landed in a tie for 20th after Thursday's second round of the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, which is being held at the par-71, 5,928 yard Rock Barn Golf and Spa.

Price improved her second round results from day one by four strokes and currently sits tied for 20th after carding a 73.

Leading the pack is Maria Paolo Fiorio from Barry, who shot even par and sits in first.

Lynn University ends round two with a total team score of 591 to sit in first followed by Barry in second with 594. Tarleton State (599) moved up to third while Rollins College (603) takes fourth. Central Oklahoma closes out the top five after posting 608 for a total team score for day two.

Price is set to tee off for the third round of the NCAA Championship on Friday.
