TDP's Saturday sports roundup

- Both Tahlequah track teams sit in second place, behind Booker T. Washington, at the Class 5A regional track meet. The event could not be finished on Saturday because poor conditions led to the cancellation of shotput, discus and pole vault.

- Tahlequah's baseball team put together a furious late-game rally but came up one run short against Coweta in a Class 5A regional championship game. Tahlequah lost 7-6 and fell short of a state-tournament berth.

- Tahlequah's No. 1 doubles pair of Karson Heist and Katie Schneider beat McAlester in straight sets to finish seventh at the Class 5A state tennis tournament.

- It was a up-and-down day for NSU baseball and softball. The up was for baseball's 4-2 victory over Missouri Southern in the first game of a three-game set in Joplin, Mo. The down was for NSU's softball's 7-4 loss to Missouri Western, which ended the RiverHawks' season at 27-24.

Check back periodically for detailed stories on each event.
