NSU women’s hoops signs 4

From Staff reports

— Northeastern State women’s basketball coach Randy Gipson announced recently the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.

The class includes three high school seniors and one junior college transfer. Two of the signees hail from Arkansas, while the other two additions are from Oklahoma and Ohio.

“We are very excited about this year’s signing class,” Gipson said. “We think we have really helped ourselves by bringing in a group that possesses good physical strength and athleticism. They also each have good ball skills and high basketball I.Q.”

NSU’s four signees are:

• Che’Ron Lewis, a 5-foot-10 forward from Cushing. Lewis averaged 17.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per game her senior year to lead Cushing High School to a 25-2 record and a trip to the Class 4A state semifinals.

• Jamie Jackson, a 5-foot-7 guard from Beebe, Ark. Jackson averaged 20.3 points her senior year of high school. She also had 6.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game. Jackson led her squad to a 23-7 record and a berth in the Class 5A state quarterfinals.

• Sarah Sagely, a 5-foot-6 guard from West Fork, Ark. Sagely is a transfer from Crowder College, where she averaged 12.6 points per game.

• Mya Walker, 5-foot-8 forward from Lewis Center, Ohio. She averaged 14.9 points and 6 rebounds per game her senior year of high school.
