Inside the MIAA

A weekly look inside the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

(Continued)

They said it

“Towards the beginning of the season, I thought I was allergic to the end zone. I couldn’t quite find it. I’m starting to get back in a groove a little bit. It just feels good to finally get everybody rolling at the same time and firing on all cylinders.” -- Emporia State running back Dozie Iwuagwa, who had 73 yards and two touchdowns in the Hornets’ win over Southwest Baptist.

Game of the week

Pittsburg State vs. Northwest Missouri State

Finally, a big game in MIAA play. The first six weeks seemed to feature so-so matches, but now the heat gets turned up at the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City. The winner of this game has to feel good about winning the league and making the Division II playoffs. The loser leaves the intersection of Interstate-70 and Blue Ridge Cutoff with some doubt. Meanwhile, in Joplin, Mo., Missouri Western and Missouri Southern are playing in another solid matchup — but not quite to the degree of Pitt State and the Bearcats.
