NSU's Lewis named Freshman of the Year

The Northeastern State women’s golf team led the way with four all-conference selections, the MIAA announced Friday.

Senior Kelsey Kirkpatrick highlighted the group, as she was named to the All-MIAA First Team. Freshman McCandren Lewis picked up All-MIAA Second Team accolades and was also honored as the MIAA Freshman of the Year.

Joining Lewis on the All-MIAA Second Team were senior Whitney McAteer and sophomore Alex Koch.

Central Oklahoma, the league’s tournament champion, also had four all-conference selections, which included the MIAA Golfer of the Year in Aly Seng.

Northeastern State is squarely in the mix for a berth in the 2013 NCAA Central Regional Championship, and the RiverHawks will learn their postseason fate in a press release on NCAA.com at 5 p.m. April 29.
