MIAA Network to showcase 2 NSU football games in the fall

For the second straight season, Northeastern State's home-opening football game will be showcased on television.

The RiverHawks will be featured in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Game of the Week during the upcoming 2014 campaign. NSU will host Fort Hays State at 2 p.m. on Sept. 13. In 2013, NSU hosted Missouri Southern in its season opener and lost 17-14 with the game also on the MIAA Network.

The league announced Thursday its television games for the 2014 season.

NSU will also have a road game featured on the MIAA Network, when the RiverHawks play at Missouri Southern on Oct. 18.

It will mark the  third and fourth times that NSU will be shown on the MIAA Network. NSU is 0-2 in its first two appearances, having lost contests at Northwest Missouri State (66-6 on Sept. 29, 2012) and last year at home.

There will be 11 games over the course of the season broadcast on the network, which will begin Sept. 4 when defending NCAA national Championship NWMSU hosts Nebraska-Kearney.

During the next 10 consecutive Saturday’s, the MIAA TV Network will travel to a different campus each week featuring several key matchups in determining who will win the conference championship.

The MIAA TV Network has left the last Saturday (Nov. 15) open as a “flex” game in order to be able to select a game of significant fan interest and impact on the conference championship.

All 11 games will all be carried on KSMO-TV in Kansas City and several other outlets across the MIAA footprint. A complete listing of where the MIAA TV Game of the Week can be seen will be announced in the near future. During the 2013 season, the MIAA Network was primarily shown in Kansas and Missouri and only appeared as an option on Cox Communications in certain Oklahoma markets.
