Deana Mae Jones

TAHLEQUAH — Deana Mae Jones was born Jan. 11, 1926 in Forgan to Nettie and John Martin Cook. She passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, in Muskogee at the age of 87.

Before marrying, she worked as a telephone operator. After she wed she devoted her time to being a homemaker and raising her children. Deana was a Baptist by faith. After moving from Liberal, Kansas to Tahlequah, she attended Blessed Hope Baptist Church, but she only attended for a short time due to poor health. Deana was led to the Lord by Pastor Bill Holcomb.

Deana was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nettie; her beloved son, Donald Dean in 1946; her husband, Roy in 2006; a daughter, Phyllis; five siblings, Paul, Carl, Ted, Raymond and Helen.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Pennington Carlisle of Tahlequah; three grandsons, Troy, Randy and Nathan Pennington; granddaughter, Nanci Longoria; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

Private graveside services will be held in Forgan. Final arrangements have been placed under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.
