On Sunday, Feb. 9, Sister Ridenhour departed this world to claim her eternal reward. She faced this final transit with resolve and dignity and slipped from this life surrounded by her loving family and close friends.
She was born on March 6, 1925, in Webb City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and their beloved daughter, Sheryl. She is survived by three sons, Bobby Ridenhour and wife Sharron of Tahlequah, Harold Kenneth Ridenhour of Chanute, Kan., Denis Ridenhour and wife Evelyn, of Welling; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; along with many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and church family.
Most knew her as Sister Ridenhour, faithful pastor’s wife of 68 years. Together they never ran from a challenge in their service to the Lord. Her life was dedicated first to God and then to caring for her family. She wore the badges of “Pastor’s Wife,” “Mom” and “Gaga” with honor, and went above and beyond her call of duty. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel like they were her favorite.
Thank you, Sister Ridenhour, for all the life lessons you lived before us; thank you, friend, for all the meals and memories; and thank you, Gaga, for loving us like only you could. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you. Though you may be gone you will never be forgotten, as your legacy lives on in the hearts of those whose lives you touched and changed.
