TAHLEQUAH — James C. Forrest, Peggs resident, passed away at his home on Thursday, Feb. 13. He was 82 years of age.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 17, in the Hart Funeral Home chapel with Brother James Points, pastor, Clear Creek Free Will Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Home Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home. Viewing will be on Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. Family visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

James was born March 5, 1931 in Teresita, the son of Ray Gifford and Julia Amber (Hair) Forrest.

He grew up around Teresita and attended the Lucky Springs School. He was married to Iva Lee Applegate in Tahlequah on July 11, 1950. The couple made their home on the family farm near Peggs for most of their married life. James worked as a logger for a few years before becoming a carpenter

 He spent many years as a carpenter before retiring at the age of 62. He was a member of the Carpenters Union. James loved working with his cattle, running a cow calf operation.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Lee, of the home; three sons, Stanley Forrest and wife Grace, Mike Forrest and wife Nelva, and Brett Forrest and wife Margie; one brother, Donald Forrest and one sister, Ruth Maggard; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jeff Forrest; and two sisters, Cleo Nutter and Pauline Tomlinson.
