GREENSBORO, N.C. —
Michael Raymond Collier, 61, of Jamestown, N.C., passed away on Dec. 30, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Sydney Bowman Collier; his brother, Bill Collier; his daughter, Mary Jordan Shaffer and spouse, Sean Michael Shaffer; his son, Travis Michael Collier; his stepdaughter, Nina Beitz and fiancée, Zeb Besant; his stepson, Hardey Beitz and spouse, Susan Beitz; his four grandchildren, Sean Youngblood, Jacqueline Youngblood, Cobey Beitz, Sydney Beitz (coming soon), and Marliese.
He is preceded by his mother, Jacqueline Collier; his brothers, Shelby and Pat Collier; and his daughter, Marcy Lowe Youngblood.
He was born in Tahlequah. He graduated from high school in Muskogee, and college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Capt.Michael R. Collier, a Cherokee , was a fighter pilot with the VWA – 331. He loved to fly A-4s. He was honorably discharged and went onto become a Quality Assurance Control Specialist with various industrial manufacturing companies. He retired as owner of Bulldog Printing.
A memorial service was held Jan. 3, 2013, at the Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St., Jamestown, N.C. 27282. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online or directly to Wounded Warrior Project Scholarship at P.O. Box 758717, Topeka, Kan., 66675.
