TAHLEQUAH — A memorial service for Cora Lea Carter, 81, of Tahlequah, will be held Friday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m., at Reed Culver Chapel. Officiating will be Leon Brashear.

Cora was born Sept. 14, 1931, to Epp and Jewel Wagers of Park Hill. She left this world on Jan. 23, 2013, in Tahlequah. Cora was the wife of John Wesley Carter Jr. for 51 years, and the mother of nine children. She was a retired nursing assistant and a caretaker of many. Cora was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and four children, Larry Dean of Tahlequah, Eddie Smallen of Tahlequah, Gene Smallen of Muldrow, and James Carter of Tahlequah.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, John Wesley Carter Jr. of the home; Joann and husband Steve Sturgeon of Tahlequah, Robert Smallen of Tahlequah, Everett Wayen Smallen of Tahlequah, Ray Smallen of Tahlequah; 12 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of family, friends and other loved ones.
