Dr. David L. Blake


TAHLEQUAH — Services for Dr. David L. Blake will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Tahlequah, with Rev. Ron Rice officiating.

Pallbearers are Josh Blake, Jon Blake, Dylan Goforth, Max Brown, Ron Gossen, Tom Tucker, Chaplain Paul Tavener and Matt Blake.

For those wishing to pay their personal respects, public viewing will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, from 5-8 p.m., at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah.

David Lee Blake was born in Houston, Texas on June 24, 1951, to Hiram Wesley and Bobbie Jean Blake, and went home to the Lord on Oct. 20, 2013, at the age of 62.

David graduated from Baptist Bible College with his Bachelors of Arts in 1974, obtained his Master’s Degree in 1977, and his Doctorate of Theology from Toledo Bible College in 1980.

David dedicated his life to the Christian ministry, serving as a pastor and chaplain for over 40 years.

He worked in churches, Christian schools and with home hospice organizations. David’s greatest joy in life was bringing people to Christ, and he couldn’t wait to personally meet his savior when his time here was completed.

David is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Blake; and his six children, Sarah M. Blake of Houston, Joshua Blake and his wife, Sarah, of Yukon, Jonathan Blake and his wife, Brianna, of Edmond, Esther (Blake) Wineinger and her husband Andrew of Longview, Texas, Matthew Blake of Houston, and Hannah Blake of Stillwater. His eight grandchildren, Jordan and Julia Blake, Makaylah Blake, Faith, Jonah, Selah, Moses and Mercy Wineinger – were the light of his life. David is also survived by his sister Diane Grey, his brother, James Blake, one aunt, and numerous cousins and extended family.
