Jerry Don “Bud” Morgan

TAHLEQUAH — Jerry Don “Bud” Morgan passed from this life at his home in Park Hill, on Easter Sunday, April 20.

He was 80 years old. Jerry was born August 23, 1933, to Joseph and Erie (Diamond) Morgan in the community of Sparks near Chandler.

A lifelong resident of Cherokee Country, Jerry was a rancher and carpenter by trade; he retired from the City of Tahlequah in 1995. He attended Bagley High School in Tahlequah and was a long-time member of the Qualls Road Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Erie; and by all eight of his brothers and sisters, Kenneth, Carl, Irene, Gene, Patsy, Pete, June and Mary.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janie; two sons, Gary of Tulsa and Bill of Park Hill; a daughter-in-law, Kathy; and the light of his life, his granddaughter, Stephanie of Muskogee; along with a large host of family and friends.

Beyond his family, Jerry’s great love was being at home on his ranch. Each morning you would find him on the front porch swing with a cup of coffee. He enjoyed driving his tractor, tending his cattle, and spoiling his donkeys – Jack, Jill and Daisy.

Jerry possessed one of those special personalities and sense of humors that endeared him to all who knew him.

He found joy in even the simplest of things and it seemed as if each day was a vacation to him. He often said “I’ve never been bored a day in my life.” His light will be deeply missed.

Memorial services to celebrate his life are set for 10 a.m., Friday, April 25. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery. Final arrangements have been placed under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences for the family may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.
