Billy E. Moore


TAHLEQUAH — Services for Billy E. Moore, are Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Green Country Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Duvall and Rev. David Jones officiaing.

Serving as pallbearers are Scott Moore, Jody Moore, Gene Moore, Leo Dallis, Justin Southerland and Nicholas Southerland. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Tahlequah Fire Department.

Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com

Billy E. “Bill” Moore was born July 10, 1934, in Tahlequah, to Howard Moore and Opal (Vanderpool) Moore. He passed away in Tahlequah, on Nov. 9, 2012, at the age of 78.

Bill was raised in the Tailholt Community of Cherokee County, where he attended school before coming to Tahlequah. He was a graduate of Tahlequah High School. In 1957, Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army. On April 11, 1957, he married Lucretia Tennison in Tahlequah. They had shared 55 years of marriage at the time of his passing.

Bill and his brother established the Moore Brothers Floor Covering in the late 1960s, and worked there until his retirement. Bill was a hard-working, honest man and was a good father and provider. He served on the Tahlequah Fire Department for 25 years and retired as captain.

Bill is survived by his wife Lucretia of the home; daughter, Debra Moore of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Jordan Moore; sister, Oleta Coles of Welling; brothers, Bob Moore and wife Dorothy of Tahlequah, and Jerry Moore and wife Cissy of Warner; as well many extended family members, and friends.
