Donald Ray Tudor was born on Jan. 4, 1935, in Eldon, the son of Luther Simon and Bertha Mae (Jamison) Tudor. He was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and served in SAC until his honorable discharge in 1957 at Lake Charles, La.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Rotramel, on July 10, 1954 in Eldon. This union was blessed with 58 years of marriage and one daughter, Donna.
Don was never a man to let the grass grow beneath his feet. He worked for the civil service and American Chain and Cable. In 1978, he opened Don’s Restaurant, a place that specialized in comfort food and the best homemade pie in the area.
Don was a man that enjoyed the simple things in life, loving, kind, and gentle. He loved people and it showed. No one entering the door of Don’s or the Dairy Barn, was ever treated like a stranger. He felt the same towards his canine, feline and all animals he came across. He loved animals.
Don enjoyed going on numerous fishing trips. More than this, he loved every moment spent with his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. He was proud of them and their accomplishments. He was honest and trustworthy. If Don told you, it was fact.
A Christian by faith, Don went home to his Lord and savior on Dec. 23, 2012, at his home with his loving family by his side. Don was 78 years old. The many friends he made along the way will miss their friend and neighbor.
Don is preceded in death by his mother, father and sister Virginia Bohannon.
Those left to cherish Don’s memory include his loving wife, Shirley, of the home in Tahlequah. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Talavera Matthews and husband Terry of Tahlequah. His legacy lives on in his two grandchildren, Jason Talavera and Amanda Salazar and husband Fabian, and his four great-grandchildren, Jordan Talavera, Austin Talavera, Aaliyah Garcia, and Diego Salazar. His sisters-in-law include Speedy Moore of Tahlequah, Patsy White Trammel and husband Duane of Tahlequah, and Nadine Huff of Tahlequah; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and a host of friends and loved ones.
