Flora Ann Richmond


TAHLEQUAH — Flora Ann (Sly) Richmond passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, in Tahlequah at the age of 86 years. She was born Sept. 5, 1927 in Yonkers, Okla., to John Elias and Fannie (Roach) Sly.

She married Harold Owen Douglas Richmond on Dec. 29, 1948 in Cherokee County, and had worked as a home health provider.

Flora was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hulbert and enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, her church family, the water garden and koi fish and just spending time with her whole family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister, Norma Long; brothers, Calvin, Harley and Clifford Sly; and her grandson, Christopher Thayer.

Flora is survived by her children, Terry Sly and wife Carol of Billings, Allen “Dusty” Richmond and wife JoAnn of Tahlequah, Thresia Eyman and husband John of Oklahoma City, Twila Whitekiller and husband George of Tahlequah, Bonnie Richmond of Oklahoma City, and Howell Richmond and wife Kim of Catoosa; 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Geneva Galegar and husband Bob of Muskogee, and Milderd Lowman of Wagoner; brother, Doyle Sly and wife Alene of Wagoner; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the First Baptist Church in Hulbert. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Hulbert under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home, Wagoner.
