Catherine Mae Bailey

TAHLEQUAH — Catherine Mae Bailey, 71, ended her journey through this life on Thursday, Jan. 23, and is now safely in the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ.

Her husband, Joe Charles Bailey, was by her side, having provided her care at home for the final years of her life.

They were married June 1, 1963, in Tahlequah, with a marriage that lasted over 50 years. She was born to Roy and Mary Peace on April 14, 1942, in the Oakdale Community just outside of Tahlequah. She attended Bagby High School in Tahlequah and spent most of her work career at W.W. Hastings Hospital.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Joe Charles Bailey; her three sons, Wayne Bailey, Ron Bailey and Mike Bailey and his wife, Leda; 10 grandchildren, Ashley Bailey, Rachelle Bailey, Erica Bilby, Ronnie Joe Bailey, Justice Bailey, John Wayne Bailey, Nathan Bilby, Heather Bailey, Jessica Bailey and Tyler Bailey; brothers and sisters, Wanda Essary and her husband Arch, Wilson Peace and his wife Inez, Jack Peace and his wife Sharon, Virginia Thompson and her husband Marshall, and Eva Davis and her husband Gary; and many nieces and nephews, the closest to her being Connie Davis and Deanna Hammons. Her life reflected a lifelong passion for her family, to whom she selflessly devoted herself.

The memorial service will be held at Hart Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m.
