Richard “Toots” Dick


TAHLEQUAH — TAHLEQUAH – Services for Richard “Toots” Dick will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at the Elm Tree Baptist Church, with Brothers D.J. McCarter and am Keener officiating. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.

Richard “Toots” Dick, the son of Jim Dick and Josephine (Smith) Gibson, was born June 20, 1958, in Tahlequah, and departed this life on Aug. 10, 2013, in Muskogee, at the age of 55 years, 1 month and 21 days.

Toots was an avid softball player. He loved playing softball and enjoyed coaching his son in the sport, showing him how to pitch and the techniques of game, as well as coaching him in baseball. Toots was a quiet man, but a jokester nonetheless. He was a man of few words, but was full of one-liners. He enjoyed working on cars and going to car shows.

Toots loved his son and his grandchildren and enjoyed every moment he shared with them no matter what the occasion may have been.

Toots was a man full of love for all of his family and they all meant so very much to him. Toots touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Webb Dick; his mother-in-law, Agnes Mayfield; a special uncle and aunt, Fred and Jimmie Fortner, and his nephew, Reb Garner.

He is survived by a loving family, which includes his wife of over 35 years, Carla Faye Dick of the home; his son, Chad Dick and spouse Brittany of Tahlequah; his sisters, Judy Garner and husband Tommy and Georgia Dick all of Tahlequah; his brother, Billy Ray Dick of Tahlequah; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee Roy Mayfield of Hulbert, Yvonne Ogden and husband Harold of Tahlequah, Nadine Arbuckle and husband John of Oran, Mo., Bobby Mayfield and wife Dianna of Hulbert, Jack Mayfield and wife Lakita of Coweta, Eugene Mayfield and wife Jan of Muskogee, Shirley Jones of Tahlequah and Sandra Presley and husband Randy of Tahlequah; and his aunt Peggy Hair of Tahlequah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much and were very special to him. Many cousins, friends and other relatives also survive him.
