Dorothy (Dottie) Faye Johnson

TAHLEQUAH — Dorothy (Dottie) Faye Johnson (Clinton) born June 9, 1940, in Tahlequah, died at Hillcrest Hospital Tulsa on Tuesday, Dec. 3, after a courageous effort. Dottie, a member of the Cherokee Nation, came from a family of 11 brothers and sisters.

She was a graduate of Northeastern State University with a degree in criminal justice, and later a graduate of Bacone School of Nursing in Muskogee.

She worked at Tahlequah City Hospital, serving as a nursing supervisor and retired in 2002 after 21 good years on duty. Dottie married Glen Baker II and is survived by their three children: Jeanne, Glen and Craig.

Dottie loved cooking, shopping, traveling and spending time and holidays with her family. She was a great cook and made the best holiday cookies and candy. She loved living near her brothers and sisters. Dottie loved family.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Ballard; and brothers, Dugan and Randy Clinton.

Those who will remain behind to miss this wonderful little woman are her three children, Jeanne M. Horton and her husband Sam of Claremore, Glen O. Baker III and his wife Trish of Tahlequah, Craig C. Baker and his partner Marc Adams of Tulsa; and sisters, Phyllis Smith and her husband Fred of Keys, Joyce Henderson and her husband Jerry of Cookson, Melbra Whitby and her husband Tommy (T.C.) of Woodall, Darlene Belden and her husband Jim of Welling, Barbara Walker and her husband Gordon of Keys, Cindy Clinton of Tahlequah; and brothers, Stevie Clinton of Claremore and Buddy Clinton and his wife Debbie of Cookson. Her grandchildren are Danyelle Johnson, Josh R. Baker, PFC Trevor C. Baker, and Harley Rae Lynn Andrews Baker. There are four great-grandchildren and an army of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers for Dottie are Jay Shepherd, Carl Clark, Thomas Trapp, Buddy Clinton Jr., Glen Baker II, and Sam L. Horton M.D. Honorary Pallbearers are Josh R. Baker, PFC Trevor C. Baker, Boady Johnson, Clinton Clark, Terry Bruner, and Clay Clark.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at Hart Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. with Carl Clark officiating. Internment will be in Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of the Hart Funeral Home.
