Patricia LaNelle Brister was born Jan. 17, 1932, in Poteet, Texas, to Altons Forge Jr. and Vera (Churchill) Forge. She passed from this life on July 14, 2013, in Tulsa, at the age of 81.

Born in Poteet, Texas, Pat grew up in several small towns in Texas around San Antonio.

Pat graduated from Seguin High School in 1949 and moved to San Antonio, where she worked as a clerk. There she met Ghyatt “Bill” Brister, whom she married June 2, 1952.

Upon completion of his service in the Air Force, Bill and Pat moved to Stillwater while he attended Oklahoma A&M. Pat was a homemaker who kept busy raising their four children while the family lived in several areas of the country, including Oklahoma City, Denver, Colo., Reno, Nev., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., St. Cloud, Minn., Black River Falls, Wis., San Antonio, Texas, Tulsa, and Cleveland, Ohio. Upon retirement, Bill and Pat moved to Tahlequah.

Pat made friends everywhere she lived and remained close to many of them long after leaving for another city far across the country. Her home was the place for friends and family to gather, play games, and fellowship. She was always surrounded by music, usually singing herself with a sweet soprano voice. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest delight.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Ghyatt Vaughn Brister; her parents; a sister, Billie Albrecht; and granddaughter, Stephanie LaNelle Brister.

She is survived by a daughter, Teri Pendergast and husband Mark of Deer Park, Wisc.; sons, Gary Brister and wife Debbie of San Antonio, Texas, Scott Brister and wife Janet of Broken Arrow, and Clay Brister and wife Becky of Prior Lake, Minn.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Rudy Forge of Poteet, Texas; as well as many other friends and loved ones.
