TAHLEQUAH — Deborah Sue Hatfield, 64 of Tahlequah, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born to William (Bill) and Marjorie Young in Tulsa, on October 17, 1948.

Deborah spent her childhood growing up in Tahlequah where she attended the Methodist church. She graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1966, before attending Northeastern State University.

She lived in Spain for three years before returning to the U.S. to live in Virginia, Texas, and then back to her home state of Oklahoma with her husband Jerry Mathis.

Deborah was married to William Hatfield for 14 years. They loved to travel after they were married and spent time on the east coast close to William’s family in Virginia. They later returned to Tahlequah in 2005.

Deborah had a knack for reading and genealogy. She spent countless hours in her garden and her roses were proof of that.

Deborah loved her family dearly and left an impression on each one. She loved and served the Lord and impressed upon us the importance of having a personal relationship with Him. Deborah was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother to all of us. We have gained so much having her in our lives and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Deborah was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Young; and husband, Jerry Mathis.

Deborah is survived by her father, William (Bill) Young of Tahlequah; her husband, William Hatfield of Tahlequah; her daughter, Kemberly Horn and husband Clint of Park Hill; son, Jason Mathis and wife Kembra of Bentonville, Ark.; daughter, Megan Grogan and husband Nicholas of Hulbert; a brother, William Young of Gore; a sister, Tina Cormier of Bentonville, Ark.; step-son, Justin Hatfield and wife Amy of Richmond, Va.; stepdaughter, Yvonne Pelkey and husband Doug of Richmond, Va.; and ten grandchildren.
