MOORE — Margaret Oleta Austin, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, with her family by her side in Oklahoma City.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 1, in Moore. She was born March 12, 1934, in Leflore. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Lenford Don Austin; her parents, Holly and Julie Ward;  brothers, James Ward and Roy Walters; brother-in-law, Lloyd Austin.

She is survived by her siblings: Bill and Dora Willard, Barbara Austin, and Juanita Ward; by her children and their spouses: Beverly Austin, Len “Buster” and Dorothy Austin, Cindy and Patrick Duffey, Rhonda and Richard Trana, Rosetta and Tim Godwin, and Renee Sellers; by her grandchildren: Robert, Charles, Jeremy, Misty, Yolanda, Julie, Pat, Ricky, Josh, Adam, Amanda, Michael, Whitney, Stephanie, Mitchell and their spouses; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Margaret was a star basketball player in her school days and loved to sing. She found her soul mate early in life, was married, graduated high school, and began her family.

Margaret was a military wife and supported Don during various assignments throughout the world for 22 years.

Margaret and Don shared a love of the outdoors and spent a great deal of time with family and friends fishing and camping.  Margaret loved cooking for her family, sharing her recipes, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Margaret will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Services are under the direction of Moore Funeral and Cremation. Visitation will take place on Friday, Feb. 28, at Moore Funeral and Cremation, 400 SE 19th St. in Moore, from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Moore Funeral and Cremation.
