Alma (Hubbard) DuVall-Watts was born on Oct. 14, 1920, in Tahlequah, the daughter of Amos and Gracie (Hullinger) Hubbard. She attended school at Eureka Grade School.

Alma married Claude Cullum DuVall and together they raised two sons, Edgar and Kenneth, and a daughter, Pauline, until Claude’s passing in 1957. She then married Charley Watts whose children included Delilah, Rosie, Cordia, Phebe, Alvin and Clyde.

Alma worked several jobs in the community, such as food service work at the school, as well as the Head Start Program, and keeping house and raising her family. When she wasn’t sewing and gardening, she could be found piecing quilts or crocheting beautiful heirlooms for her family to enjoy. The family was the most important aspect of her life. She enjoyed keeping up with her children and grandchildren’s activities.

Her health began to fail her and she went home to her eternal rest on June 23, 2013, in Tahlequah. Alma was 92 years old. She will be missed for her sweet smile and all the love she gave to friends and family alike.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Cullum DuVall in 1957; husband, Charley Watts in 1978; daughter, Pauline Watts in 2004; step-son, Clyde Watts; brothers, Jasper Hubbard, Amos Hubbard, Ray Hubbard and Delbert Hubbard; and sister, Kathy Hubbard.

Those left to celebrate her memory include two loving sons, Edgar DuVall and wife Carolyn; and Kenneth DuVall and wife Cindy, all of Tahlequah. She leaves her step-children, Delilah Watts of Park Hill, Rosie Whisenhunt of Park Hill, Cordia Sequichie of Tahlequah, Phebe Winkler of Gore, Alvin Watts of Park Hill, and daughter-in-law, Patty Watts of Park Hill. She also leaves her sisters, Eunice Reeder and Jerry Janven of Ava, Mo., Colleen Brown and husband Ted of Inola, Debbie Brister and husband Ron of Cheshire, Ore., Ruby Jones of Colcord; and brother, Owen Hubbard of Fayetteville, Ark. Her legacy lives on in her much adored grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
