Gulela Mae Kindle


TAHLEQUAH — Graveside services for Gulela Mae Kindle, 88, of Tahlequah, are 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, in the Tahlequah City Cemetery, with Terri Johnson officiating. Arrangements have been placed under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.

Galela Kindle was born May 5, 1925, in Tahlequah, to Levi Reese and Audie Dean (Craig) Reese. She passed away on Aug. 2, 2013, at the Cherokee County Nursing Center.

A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, Lela was raised in the Cross Holler area of Eldon. She attended Cross Holler School through the eighth grade.

Lela would catch the bus from home to town where she attended and graduated from Tahlequah High School in. Following graduation, in 1942, she and George Kindle married in Tahlequah where they made their lifelong home.

Lela had worked as a bank teller for many years retiring in the late 1960's.

Gulela is preceded in death by her husband, George Kindle who passed away in 1995; her mother, Audie Garner; and father, Bill Garner who raised her.

She is survived by a son, Gary Kindle and wife Mary of Tahlequah; granddaughters, Pam Byrd and husband Lloyd, and Teri Cochran and husband Matt, all of Tahlequah; two great-grandchildren, Aimee Swensen and fiance Will Coats, and Kindle Byrd; and two great-great-grandchildren, yet to be born, Liam and Mason Coats.
