Boyd Irvin McBrayer

BRISTOW — Funeral services for Boyd Irvin McBrayer, resident of Park Hill, were held on Monday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at the Church of God in Bristow.

Rev. Wayne Gemmill of the Bristow Christian Center officiated, assisted by Rev. Tom Hopkins of the church. Interment followed in Welty Cemetery at Welty. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow.

Boyd Irvin McBrayer was born in New Albany, Miss. on July 16, 1954, to Virgil Irvin McBrayer and Vinita (Curry) McBrayer. He passed from this life suddenly at his residence in Park Hill on March 14 at the age of 59 years, 7 months, and 28 days.

Boyd was raised and educated in Bristow and was a 1972 graduate of Bristow High School. He then attended college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where he met LaRhonda Gail Peace. They were united in marriage on April 29, 1989 and made their home in Park Hill.

Boyd’s early career was a pipeliner, working on the Alaskan Trans Continental pipeline in Alaska. He was a proud member of Pipeliner’s Union Local No. 798 in Tulsa, the Northeastern Oklahoma Fly Fishing Club, the Okie Fly-fishers in Tahlequah, and the Lutheran Church.

He loved the outdoors and was owner/operator of the Eagles Nest Archery in Tahlequah.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1972.

Those left to mourn his passing include: his wife, LaRhonda McBrayer of the home; his mother, Vinita (Curry) Bishop of Bristow; and numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.
