Joyce Melody White


TAHLEQUAH — TAHLEQUAH – A celebration of life for Joyce Melody (Farmer) White, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at the Latter Day Saints Church in Tahlequah, on Southridge, with Bishop Robert Stebbins officiating. Interment will follow in the Moody Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfun eral.com.

Joyce Melody White was born July 29, 1967, in Tahlequah, to Henry W. Farmer and Shirley W. (Ross) Farmer. She left her mortal life on Oct. 13, 2013, in Tulsa, at the age of 46.

Melody attended Lowrey Grade School and Tahlequah Public Schools. She was a member of band and choir and graduated as one of several valedictorians in 1985. She attended Oklahoma University in Norman, graduating in 1991, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music and a master’s degree in human services with a specialization in counseling studies.

Melody married Randy Gibson June 20, 1985, and to this union two daughters were born: Wendy Nicholle Gibson and Aurora Estelle Gibson.

Melody would later marry Richard White on April 22, 2011, and begin their life together living in Tahlequah.

Melody was an accomplished musician and singer. She led the music for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was a lifelong member. She was also a member of Tau Beta Sigma band sorority and the Mu Phi Epsilon music major fraternity.

Melody is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles and Dora Farmer, and maternal grandparents, James A. and Meddie E. Ross.

She is survived by her husband, Richard White of the home; daughters, Wendy and Aurora; parents, Henry and Shirley Farmer; sister, Willena Patterson of Bartlesville; four stepdaughters, Paula Wilcox, Sabrina Cooper, Vanessa Farrow, and Danielle Rush; nieces Levina Patterson and Lenea Patterson, both of Tahlequah; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends and loved ones.
