TAHLEQUAH — Willie Mae Thirsty went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, with her loved ones by her side. She was the daughter of Richard D. Kingfisher and Nancy (Dreadfulwater) McCarter.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2 at Elm Tree Baptist Church with Rev. D.J. McCarter and Rev. Gary Leach officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 1 at Reed Culver Funeral Home,2-6 p.m.

She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family and cherished all her grandkids and made sure they were never forgotten during the holidays.

Willie Mae enjoyed her church family and cherished all the roles she held as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, WMU, Acteen, and loved to sing and play piano.  She found salvation at Cedar Tree; she attended Echota Baptist, Sequoyah Baptist, Sycamore Tree and Rocky Mt. Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam G. Thirsty; father, Richard Kingfisher; mother, Nancy McCarter; and stepfather, John McCarter, whom she cherished; three brothers, Wilburn Eugene, John Henry, J.C. (Snooks) McCarter; one infant daughter, Sharon Sue Thirsty; and one stepdaughter, Harriett Bigpond.

Willie Mae is survived by five daughters: Wilma Fixin of the home; Irma Ummerteskee of Oklahoma City; Phyllis Whitten of Idabel; Deloris Woods and husband Bill; Carolyn Thirsty of Stilwell; one son, Adam Thirsty Jr. and wife Emma of Stilwell; one stepdaughter, Marrietta Duncan and husband Roger of Stilwell; one brother, D.J. McCarter and wife Francis of Tahlequah; one sister, Lillie Mae Perry of Tahlequah; one sister-in-law, Jean McCarter of Tahlequah; one stepson, Tyrone Smith and wife Vickie of Oklahoma City. Her legacy will live on in her 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
