LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Violet B. Ragan, 95, died June 5, 2013, in Lakewood, Colo., where she had resided for the past two years, living in Mount Vernon, Wash. for the prior 20 years.

Violet was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Lawrence County, Mo., to Elmer and Ina Leedy.

She married A.D. Ragan and raised four children in Oklahoma.

She retired after a long career with Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, and then worked at Karl’s Paints and Art Supplies into her 90s.

She was a tireless worker, enjoyed gardening, needlework and home projects and could be found at the top of a ladder in her 80s.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband; and her son-in-law, Victor DelValle.

She is survived by her children, Dale (Susan) Ragan of Mount Vernon, Wash., Janet DelValle of Littleton, Colo., Ronald Ragan of Oklahoma and Terry Ragan of Mount Vernon, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

As she would say in her pronounced accent, “That Violet was quite a violet.”

Private family services will be held at a later date with inurnment in Oklahoma.
