TAHLEQUAH — TAHLEQUAH – Rutha Pauline Bailey passed from this life on April 16, 2013. She was born in Siloam Springs, Ark., Jan. 24, 1923. She lived 90 years, two months and 22 days.

Rutha was a devoted mother and friend. She was employed and lived much of her life in the Tahlequah area. She cooked for the Teresita school and Northeastern State University. Rutha worked for the Library State Bank, as well as Food-4-Less. She was known and loved by many.

Rutha was a flower lover and owned her own green house. She shared cuttings, as well as potted plants with all who wanted them. She would give advice to anyone who was not blessed with a green thumb and encourage them to try again. When she pruned her plants, she often just stuck the cuttings into another pot of soil, talked to them and watched them grow.

Rutha was a wrestling fan. She was faithfully in front her television to watch Monday, Thursday and Friday night wrestling.

Rutha is preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and Daniel Ward; six brothers, Tom, George, Charlie, Pat, Roy and Richard Ward; sisters, Edith Sumner and Katy Huffman. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Francis Bailey; children, Donna and Hugh.

Rutha is survived by three children, Danny Bailey and wife Barbara, Kenneth Bailey and wife Charlotte, Judy Copeland and husband J.W. Copeland. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are pending with Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark. Burial will be in the Allen Cemetery in Delaware County.
