TAHLEQUAH — Services for Stan Farabee, 82, of Tahlequah, will be held Tuesday, June 25, at 2 p.m., in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Brother Daniel Buzzard and Rev. Paul Starkey.

Serving as pall bearers are: Nick Smith, Bryan Bardell, Brent Bardell, Scott MacDonald, David Smith and Dustin Jackson. Honorary pall bearers are Alton Doss, Daniel Buzzard and Bill Dreadfulwater. Interment will follow in the Cobb Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at tahlequahfuneral.com.

Stan was born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Harland and Ethel (Chriswell) Farabee. He had served in the U.S. Army 1952-’54. He had worked as a shoe salesman in California where he made orthopedic shoes in a shop he owned. Following his move to Oklahoma he was employed as a truck driver until his retirement in 1992. On Dec. 24, 1988, he wed Hattie Lou Somner in Fayetteville, Ark.

Stan enjoyed visiting people and speaking at AA Meetings. He recently celebrated 40 years of sobriety and was proud to receive the 40 year chip. Stan loved everybody and was never known to meet a stranger. The angels came to take him home to be with Jesus on June 21, 2013.

Stan has been predeceased by his parents.

Surviving him are his wife, Hattie of the home; son, Glenn Farabee of Branson, Mo.; daughters, Marilyhn Budin and husband Ray of New Jersey, Carolyn Farabee of Fayetteville, Ark., and Deborah Ravellette of Farmington, Ark.; grandchildren, Michael, Chris, Steven, Erin, Gary and Nicole; and a great-great-granddaughter; two daughters, Linda Dreadfulwater and husband Bill of Briggs, and Jean Ann Smith and husband David of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Kalea Vinson, Shelly Dreadfulwater, Stacy Fountain and husband Tye, Nick Smith, and Jessica Smith; two great-grandchildren, Kassidy Slade and Mia Vinson; his brother, Kenneth Farabee; and sister, Frances VanFleet.]

His family would like to express gratitude to all his special friends that have been with him along lifes journey.
