TAHLEQUAH — Services for Jerry Dean Jumper will be held on Monday, June 9, at 2 p.m., at Reed-Culver Chapel, with Pastor Ross Gourd and Pastor Fox Blackfox officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, June 6, from noon until 6 p.m. with a Wake Service from 6-8 p.m.. Interment will be held at Barber Cemetery. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Pallbearers for Jerry include Ross Gourd, Felix Johnson, Dennis Sixkiller, George Cochran, Robert Dry, and Bill Drywater. Honorary pallbearers include Rocky Jumper, Daniel Christie, Marion Jumper, Johnny Jumper, Carl Rossignol II, George McLemore and Sky Dillon Jumper. His nieces and great-nieces will serve as flower girls.

Jerry Dean Jumper was born on Nov. 11, 1956, in Tahlequah, the son of Willie and Minnie (Handle) Jumper Sr. He graduated from school in Tahlequah and was active in the National Guard for two years.

He married the love of his life, Betty Mae Gourd on June 4, 1999, in Miami. Together they raised one son and one daughter. He worked as the greenskeeper at Cherokee Trails Golf Course.

When he wasn’t working, Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, and singing the old gospel songs. He adored his family dearly and treasured every moment he spent in their company. Jerry was a man of God and a deacon in the Olive Baptist Church. He also served as pastor at Olive Baptist Churchl, and he served the people of the church and anyone who knocked on his door for prayer and help. Jerry devoted long hours to improving the lives of others and was a true prayer warrior.

He didn’t simply preach the word of God, he lived by example. He had a sweet smile, a kind and giving heart, and the will to serve his Savior by serving those in his community.

Jerry’s health began to fail him and the Lord called this good and faithful servant home from his labors on Wednesday, June 4, in Tahlequah, with his loved ones gathered close by his side. Jerry was 57 years old. His gentle manner, his warm sense of humor and his dedication to family and friends will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Those preceding Jerry in death include his father, Willie Jumper Sr.; his mother, Minnie Jumper; one daughter, Emily Garner; five brothers, Willie Jumper Jr., Buster Jumper, Russell Jumper, Frankie Lee Jumper, Watt Jumper; as well as one sister, Lillie Hess.

Those left to cherish his memory include his adoring wife, Betty, of the home in Tahlequah. He leaves one daughter, Alicia Jumper, of the home;, and one son, Jerry Jumper Jr. of Stilwell. He leaves brothers, Rocky Jumper of Tahlequah, Marion Jumper of Tahlequah; and sisters, Rosie Rossignol, Mary Jo Jumper and Sandra Whitecrow all of Tahlequah. He also leaves his twin sister, Alice Wilder and husband Brian of Collinsville; and Carol Dunn and husband Franklin, all of Tahlequah; as well as three adored grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
