Brenda May Stephens was born on Jan. 15, 1947, in Tahlequah, the daughter of Noah and Elsie (Kirk) Shepherd. She had three brothers and two sisters. Brenda attended school at Oakdale.

Brenda was a loving, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She married Kenneth Lee Stephens and they enjoyed sharing the days until his passing in 2008.

She loved anytime spent outdoors doing a little fishing or camping out with her family. She enjoyed strolling around taking in the garage and yard sales every chance she got. She was friendly and outgoing. She liked meeting new friends and keeping in touch with everyone else.

She was always ready to get together with all her family to share a special holiday meal and the rest of day catching up on the latest news.

Brenda was a Christian and attended Victory House of Prayer. The Lord called Brenda to her eternal home on Monday, March 18, 2013, in Tulsa, with her family by her side. Brenda was 66 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Brenda has gone on to join her mother, father; one sister, Verda Ratliff; and her son and daughter, Stevie Whitson and Kimberly Whitson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving son, Tony Whitson of the home in Tahlequah. She leaves three brothers and one sister, Benny Stevenson and wife Betty, Joyce Eastham and husband Thomas, Johnny Shepherd and wife Carol, and Dwight Shepherd and companion Donna, all of Tahlequah. Her legacy lives on in her two grandchildren, Callie Whitson and Connor Whitson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
