TAHLEQUAH — Kenneth Carnell, Oaks resident passed away Tuesday morning November 19 in Tulsa. He was 87 years of age.

Funeral services will be at noon, Monday, Nov. 25 in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Chester Crittenden officiating. Interment will follow at 2  p.m. in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home. Kenneth was born Jan. 11, 1926 in McDonald County, Mo. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1944 and received his honorable discharge in June 1948. On Nov. 11, 1955 he was married to Virginia Snell. The family made their home in Rocky Comfort, Mo. Kenneth worked as a lineman and farmed for many years.

He was proud of his military service and served as post commander for VFW and American Legion posts. He loved to fish, hunt and trade knives. Kenneth loved his family, his kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren. He was always ready to help a neighbor in need.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; two sons, Greg Carnell and wife Tammy, and Rick Carnell; eight grandchildren including granddaughter, Jamie Gilman, whom he raised as his own; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Jeannie Dingle.
