Gwendolyn Ruth Ferguson, Gwen, 95, a longtime resident of Tahlequah, died at 1:20 am, Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Go Ye Village in Tahlequah.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, in the Tahlequah City Cemetery, with Chaplain Paul Tavener officiating. Interment will follow under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1917, in Shirley, Ark., to Frank and Eula Emerson. She married Charles Mack Ferguson on Dec. 23, 1941, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Eula; three brothers, Wendell, Dale, and Dow; one sister, Lorraine; one grandson, Charles David Ferguson, and one step-granddaughter, Martha Leathers.
Gwen is survived by two sons, Charles Ferguson, Chuck, of Hanahan, S.C., and Carl Ferguson of Siloam Springs, Ark.; one grandson, John Ferguson, and three granddaughters, Jeanette Anderson, Leslie Whitten, and Gwendolyn Ferguson, Gigi; six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was always involved in the church and loved to contribute in any way possible, using the talents God had given her to teach the Bible, play the piano or any other way she saw an opportunity.
