Leroy Coursey Sr.


TAHLEQUAH — Graveside services for Leroy Coursey Sr. will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, in the Hendricks Cemetery, under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.

Leroy Coursey Sr. was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Tahlequah, to Henry Coursey and Sylvia (Enlow) Coursey. He passed from this life on Sept. 2, 2013, from Jay, at the age of 83.

Leroy grew up in Tahlequah and attended Black Gum Elementary School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950, and was discharged in 1954, after serving a year in Korea. Following service to his country, he began a career in construction where he had worked 33 years with FlintCo.

Leroy married Pauline Hicks-Jennings and shared 27 years of marriage. From this union came four children. His second marriage was to Judith Wagner on Sept. 4, 1999.

He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and loved sharing those moments with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Silva Coursey, and a daughter, Elaine Hamilton.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Judy of the home; children, Brenda Cline-Hizen and Pete of Franklin, Tenn., Paula Gilmore and Gary of Rocky Ford, and Leroy Coursey Jr., and Colette of Grove; stepdaughter, Rhonda Pallette and Jeff of Waterbury, Ct.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Dewey Coursey, Wilbur Coursey, and Elmer Coursey; and many extended family members friends and loved ones.
