TAHLEQUAH — Billie Earl Burgess

TAHLEQUAH – Services for Billie Earl Burgess, 83, of Park Hill will be Thursday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m., in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers are: Herman Augerhole, Bobby Jackson, Allen Smith, Harold Thompson, Austin Jackson and Steve Nelson. Interment will Follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Onlind condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com

Born on March 12, 1929, the son of Willie and Cattie (Patton) Burgess, he died on Feb. 11, 2013, at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Hospital in Muskogee.

A Tahlequah High School graduate, Billie enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1951-’64. He married Faye Davis, while on leave, on March 7, 1952, in Stilwell. Following his military career he and his family moved to Park Hill, where he began a career as a Rancher. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Billie was a member or the Keys Church of Christ.

Billie has been preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Nona of the home; children, Judy Flemings and husband Joe of Mounds, and James Burgess and wife Tammie of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Rowdy Flemings of Oklahoma City, Nicole Layman and husband Casey of Park Hill, and Jamie Burgess of Tahlequah; great-granddaughter, Lacey Beth Layman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
