Carolyn Marie Engle

PEGGS — Carolyn Marie Engle was born on Dec. 23, 1952, in Muskogee, to James Chester and Margie Marie (Bird) Points. Carolyn went on to her heavenly home, on Monday, June 16, in Big Cabin, at the age of 61 years, 5 months, and 24 days.

Carolyn graduated Tahlequah High School in 1971. She furthered her education by attending and graduating Northeastern State University with bachelor’s degree in Library Science and a minor in music. She later obtained her master’s degree in Library Science from Emporia State in Emporia, Kansas.

Carolyn worked as a librarian and Spanish teacher while she lived in Centralia, Kansas. On March 5, 1983, at Clear Creek Free Will Baptist Church near Peggs, Carolyn Marie Points and Stanley Paul Engle were united in marriage. Stanley preceded his wife in death on June 15, 2010. The couple had been married for over 26 years.

Carolyn also worked in libraries in Hope and other rural Kansas towns. Her first teaching job in Oklahoma was in Taloga. She retired from Guthrie Public Library. She and her husband moved to Peggs in 2004 where they became members of Clear Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Carolyn loved to play the piano and lead music in church. She enjoyed teaching the children in her church, as well as the time she spent teaching at church camp.

Carolyn had a love and talent for playing the piano. She truly enjoyed getting together with family, church family, and friends to play games. Her favorite flowers were carnations. Carolyn had also enjoyed being able to crochet and do knitting. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Carolyn is survived by one sister, Linda Powell and husband John of Peggs; one brother, James Points and wife Terri of Peggs; three nephews, Carl Points and wife Lorie of Buena Vista, Colorado, Joshua Points and wife Holly of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Jarrod Points of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one niece, Rachel Bayless and husband Allen of Peggs; aunts and uncles, Doyle and Geneva Points of Haskell, Robert and Edna Points of Haskell, Helen and Bob Hampton of Porter, and Virginia and Junior Hill of Athens, Tennessee; one great niece, Ashley McQuigg of Buena Vista, Colorado; one great nephew, Skyler McQuigg of Buena Vista, Colorado; and numerous cousins, other relatives, church family, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Marie Points; as well as her father and mother-in-law, Paul and Allyne Engle.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, June 20, at Clear Creek Free Will Baptist Church near Peggs. Rev. Don Goddard will officiate. Interment will follow at New Home Cemetery.
