Harold Stepp

TAHLEQUAH — Harold was born April 8, 1933, in Tahlequah, to Bill and Marie Stepp.

Harold attended Lamont High in Lamont, Oklahoma. Before graduating in 1951, he left his legacy in football as he made the Oklahoma All-State team as a guard.

Harold joined the U.S. Army 44th Infantry Division after graduation and was later trained as a paratrooper. After serving his country as a soldier he resided in Oakdale, California, where he met his wife, Shirley. They married in 1956 and started a family. Their son Greg was born in 1957, and Cindy was added in 1959. The Stepps moved to Chico, Calif., in 1962.

Harold was very involved in PTA and Little League during his children’s elementary years. He worked for Pacific Gas & Electric for 35 years, and was promoted to line foreman. In 1978, Harold and Shirley moved to Forest Ranch, a mountain community outside of Chico, where Harold served his community as a volunteer firerighter. He and Shirley helped in the construction of Forest Ranch Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parent and his three brothers, Gerald, Glenn and Edmond, all of Tahlequah.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two children, Greg Stepp of Colorado, Cindy Palm of Chico, 10 grandkids, and six great-grandsons. He is also survived by his two younger sisters, Eva Barrett of Tahlequah, and Betty Odle of Kansas, Oklahoma.

Graveside services were held at Glenn Oaks Memorial Park, Chico, California, on June 20, at 11 a.m. Condolences may be sent on www. BrusieFH.com.
