ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: Sample Senior Nutrition Program menu

TAHLEQUAH — The Senior Nutrition Program serves meals to about 70 people age 60-over in Cherokee County each day. A dietician creates monthly menus. The menu for Sept. 9-13:

Monday: Polish sausage, macaroni and cheese, sauerkraut, roll or bread, pears and milk.

Tuesday: Ham and beans, cornbread, tomato relish, sliced onions, fruit crisps and milk.

Wednesday: Steak fingers, mashed potatoes with gravy, creamed corn, roll or bread, cake, milk.

Thursday: Tuna salad on lettuce, crackers, pasta salad, pickled beets, Jell-O salad with fruit, milk.

Friday: Frito chili pie, green beans, applesauce, milk.
