EMV smartcards

TAHLEQUAH — Several financial institutions in the U.S. are offering EMV smartcards.

American Express offers the smart option on various consumer, OPEN and corporate cards by request only and after approval.

Bank of America smart cards are available on Merrill Lynch-issued cards; BankAmericard Travel Rewards, BankAmericard Cash Rewards; airline cards for Virgin Atlantic, Alaska, Hawaiian and Asiana; Royal Caribbean and Norwegian cruise line cards. The chips is automatic on the new Merril Lynch, BankAmericard Travel Rewards and Virgin Atlantic cards, and for existing cardholders identified as international travelers. Customers may request chips on other cards by phone or at a banking center.

JPMorgan Chase offers smart cards of Sapphire Preferred, Marriott Rewards Premier , Ritz Carlton Rewards, Hyatt Credit Card, JPMorgan Palladium, and British Airways Visa SIgnature. It is also available on Select card, which has been discontinued for new applicants.

Citi offers the service on Citi ThankYou cards, Hilton HHonors Reserve, AAdvantage cards, Dividend cards and Prestige cards

USAA bank offers cards only for members traveling overseas and the service must be requested by phone.

U.S. Bank offers the smart card for FlexPerks Travel Rewards and SKYPASS customers.

Wells Fargo Bank offers smart Visa cards by phone request only.



Institutions that do not offer smart cards are Barclaycard, Capitol One and Discover.
